About

Krisanna Hokup Peterson grew up on her family farm north of Wilton. Spending her early years in the country gave her a deep appreciation for farmers as well as a profound understanding of the issues faced by North Dakotans living in rural areas. She graduated in 2000 from Washburn Public School and went on to attend Bismarck State College. Here, she earned her associates degree in Science and came to love Bismarck’s varied and wholesome community. Ambitious and hard working, she then attended NDSU where she earned her degree in Speech Communications & History Education with a minor in Theatre.

In 2004, Krisanna married  Freeman Peterson. Two years later went on to have a son, Nicolas. After completing her studies in Fargo, she moved back to Bismarck -missing the community she had found there- and went to work for Sanford Healthcare Accessories. In the fall of 2014, she began work at the Red Trail Elementary School in Mandan as a paraprofessional for students with disabilities and continues to work there today. During this time, she took the opportunity to complete several graduate courses in special education, always working to further her knowledge and skills.

About

Who I Am

I am a mother, wife, and a paraprofessional for students with disabilities (with a teaching license). I’m running for North Dakota House District 32 so no other parent ever has to fight to get the healthcare their child, or any other family member, deserves.

My experiences made me realize it takes years to make any type of change, but when someone you love is sick, you don’t have years. I know what it’s like to not feel heard. When I’m elected, I will make sure every person in North Dakota House District 32 feels heard. And when they need help, I will work with them to find answers.

Through hard work and perseverance, I got answers for my son when he was finally diagnosed with Autism. Through endless phone calls, networking, and pushing for evaluations that normally only come every few years, I got the waiver for the healthcare help he needed. I was so determined that the people at my insurance company labeled me “annoying” and assigned me a personal contact there.

I’m a natural advocate, and now, I’m ready to saddle up for you and your family. Even if I have to be annoying to get results.

Why I’m the Best Person to Represent North Dakotans

I’m the best candidate to represent voters because I’m just like them. I don’t come from a penthouse on Park Avenue. I grew up in North Dakota and I represent the people of North Dakota. I am a mother, educator, and most importantly an advocate.  I will advocate for voters’ families just as I do my own. We’re all worried about similar things; giving our children a good education, accessible and affordable quality healthcare, affordable safe housing, good paying jobs, and so much more. I’m the best candidate because I know how hard it is to pay medical bills, put food on the table, and keep the lights on.

I will fight to get my family and my voter’s families the help we need.
